Grieving on Valentine’s Day
Here are a few suggestions to help grievers on Valentine’s Day:
Those ❤️’s that we are seeing everywhere this week may look 💔broken and cracked like your heart may be feeling. When we are grieving, our perceptions can be distorted and painful. And ISOLATION exacerbates our pain.
Valentine’s Day is on Friday this year. Perhaps you might consider inviting a friend over to share a movie and popcorn.
Find someone who will listen without giving advice or trying to “fix it.”
Plan some meaningful things to do,
such as visiting someone or someplace,
finding a quiet spot to contemplate or meditate,
create an activity that honors or memorializes or celebrates that relationship.
Do some writing, drawing, or painting. Grief comes out in art in ways that can be releasing.
Create a poem or story.
Take a chance and reach out to someone, letting them know you are thinking of them.
If you find yourself with a box of assorted chocolates 🎁 call a friend to share.
